Library Lighting

Lighting for higher education libraries should include ambient lighting paired with sufficient illumination at the task level to enable the reading of both printed and digital materials. Additionally, vertical illumination is essential in the stack areas of the library to properly light books on the shelves. For a sustainable design, use integrated daylight harvesting and occupancy sensing lighting controls to minimize the energy usage when maximum light levels are not needed.
